Almost 200 participants from 26 countries made the eighth edition of the European Pole Vault & High Jump Conference at the German Sport University Cologne a great success. Career reports, presentations, practical examples and chat talks offered a varied programme.

The second day focused on the periodisation of the training with regard to the very difficult planning for 2019 - 2020, especially against the background of the new qualification system, which is not comprehensible for trainers and entails considerable difficulties and uncertainties. Martin Bingisser and Herbert Czingon made the problem very clear.
Practical demonstrations by Roman Jahoda (CompexCore), Tamas Kiss and Giulio Ciotti gave a good insight into special training approaches.
The third day was dedicated to the biomechanical analysis of the last World Championships. Brian Hanley and Gareth Nicholson summarized the results of the IAAF report and pointed out further perspectives and discussion needs.
