Almost 200 participants from 26 countries made the eighth edition of the European Pole Vault & High Jump Conference at the German Sport University Cologne a great success. Career reports, presentations, practical examples and chat talks offered a varied programme.
Fabian Hambüchen (Olympic champion gymnastics) and Carlo Thränhardt gave an insight into all the successes and challenges of their career.
The second day focused on the periodisation of the training with regard to the very difficult planning for 2019 - 2020, especially against the background of the new qualification system, which is not comprehensible for trainers and entails considerable difficulties and uncertainties. Martin Bingisser and Herbert Czingon made the problem very clear.
Practical demonstrations by Roman Jahoda (CompexCore), Tamas Kiss and Giulio Ciotti gave a good insight into special training approaches.
The third day was dedicated to the biomechanical analysis of the last World Championships. Brian Hanley and Gareth Nicholson summarized the results of the IAAF report and pointed out further perspectives and discussion needs.
Due to his duties as a pilot Björn Otto cannot attend the opening day of our conference. He is really disappointed and sends his regards.
But we managed to find another outstanding sportsmen with an impressive career. Fabian Hambüchen, Olympic gold medalist in gymnastics and multiple Olympic and World championship medalist is giving his report on a very interesting and successful career. We are sure you will enjoy it.
Martin Bingisser (CH) and Björn Otto (D) will join the list of speakers at the European Paul Vault and High Jump Conference.
